The comprehensive GI-MAP™ costs $525, or $600 with the zonulin add-on. Those are our standing prices. You will not find a countdown timer on this site, a struck-through "was" price we never actually charged, or a discount that resets every week — if a price changes, it changes, and this page changes with it.

What the price includes
- The collection kit, shipped free to your door in the US (typically 3-5 business days).
- Review of your intake and the test order placed by a licensed Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner — the GI-MAP™ cannot be self-ordered, and this is how that requirement is met.
- qPCR analysis at Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory, a CLIA-certified lab.
- Prepaid return shipping in most areas.
- Your results report, approximately 10-14 business days after the lab receives your sample.
What it does not include
- A personalised written interpretation. That is the separate $245 Interpretation Review. Your results report is included; a custom analysis with a protocol is not.
- Return shipping in some rural and remote areas. Where there is no nearby FedEx Office, FedEx Ship Center or authorised shipping partner, prepaid return may not be available and return postage may be yours to cover. See shipping.
- Supplements or treatment. We sell a test, not a protocol. The GI-MAP™ is a laboratory test and does not diagnose, treat or cure anything on its own.
- Ongoing clinical care. If you need continuing management, that comes from a practitioner you engage separately.
Paying with HSA or FSA dollars
The GI-MAP™ is generally HSA/FSA eligible, which for most people is the single biggest lever on the real cost — paying with pre-tax dollars reduces the effective price by roughly your marginal tax rate. Eligibility and whether your administrator wants a Letter of Medical Necessity depend on your specific plan. The HSA/FSA page covers how to submit, and insurance and reimbursement covers the separate question of whether a health plan will pay.
Instalments
Klarna is offered at checkout and splits the cost into four payments: $131.25 × 4 for the Standard panel, $150.00 × 4 for GI-MAP + Zonulin. Those terms are Klarna’s and are subject to their approval, not ours.
Why it costs what it costs
Two things account for most of the difference between this and a $99 consumer gut kit.
The method. Most direct-to-consumer microbiome kits use 16S rRNA sequencing, which is good at describing which bacterial groups are present and is not designed to quantify a specific pathogen. The GI-MAP™ uses quantitative PCR against defined targets and reports a quantity for each. Those answer different questions, and a quantitative result on a defined target panel is the more expensive one to produce.
The practitioner requirement. The GI-MAP™ is not a self-order wellness product. A licensed practitioner has to order it, and that review is built into what you pay rather than bolted on.
Whether that trade is worth it depends on your question. If you are curious about your microbiome in general terms, a cheaper consumer kit may genuinely be enough. If you or your practitioner need quantified results on specific organisms, a 16S consumer test will not substitute. We would rather you pick correctly than pick us.
A note on prices you see elsewhere
The GI-MAP™ is sold through many practitioners and resellers and prices differ between them, sometimes substantially. Some sites advertise a permanent "sale" against a reference price they do not actually charge. Under the FTC’s pricing guidance a comparison price has to be one the seller genuinely offered, so a discount that never expires is not a discount. If you are comparing quotes, compare the total at checkout, check whether shipping both ways is included, and check whether a practitioner order is included or something you have to arrange yourself.
