We aggregate and cite official sources — we are not the primary source. This is a maintained snapshot, not a live feed. Always confirm the current numbers with CDC and PHAC.

United States snapshot

According to CDC outbreak surveillance (as of 13 July 2026), roughly 1,645 lab-confirmed domestic cases had been reported across 34 states, with 141 hospitalizations and no deaths. An additional 5,100+ cases were reported under analysis. By state count, Michigan was hardest hit (about 3,309 cases). In the U.S., Cyclospora infections cluster seasonally between 1 May and 31 August. These figures move — re-check the CDC outbreak page for the current total.

Canada status

As of 15 July 2026, PHAC was not investigating a Canadian outbreak, and CFIA had not restricted U.S. produce imports while continuing to monitor and test imported greens, herbs and berries. Québec reported an increase in cases this year. For context, the last widespread Canadian outbreak was in 2017 (about 164 cases across BC, Ontario, Québec and Nova Scotia). See Cyclospora in Canada for the full picture and regional notes.

What’s the source?

The source of the 2026 outbreak was unconfirmed at last update. Investigators have described fresh produce (leafy greens) as a focus, but no grower, brand or restaurant has been publicly confirmed as the cause. We report only what a named authority confirms; we do not attribute illness to any company. If you are searching for a specific brand, the responsible answer is that authorities had not named one.

What this means for you

If you have symptoms, the useful next steps are understanding the outbreak symptoms to watch for and, if they persist, learning how to get tested for Cyclospora — routine stool tests often miss it. For food safety, see which foods have been linked and how to reduce risk.

Worried you’ve been exposed? The GI-MAP™ detects Cyclospora by qPCR alongside other parasites and gut markers.
